Carnegie's time as an industrialist:Carnegie made his fortune in the steel industry. Today he’s known as "The Man of Steel." Before Carnegie, steel was expensive and luxurious. To lower costs, Carnegie adopted Bessemer's process, underpaid workers, and increased efficiency. The affordable steel was feasible and allowed for new projects. This meant new possibilities for national growth. Affordable steel meant more jobs, prestige, and a better life for many people. Because of the way Carnegie revolutionized steel, infrastructure was changed. His leadership was displayed through the role he played in steel, his drive, and his great effort.
